‘Rumored’ Ace Hotel on the Bowery Begins its Rooftop Ascent

The Ace Hotel on the Bowery is now recipient of some new vertical appendages.

After years of gut renovation, the heavy duty work is now visible on the exterior. A truck-bound crane began daily deliveries of steel beams to the project site last Friday, kickstarting the process of constructing the rooftop addition. Eventually, this new construction will look something like this.

Upon completion of the development, the former Salvation Army outpost will reportedly house roughly two hundred guest rooms, a 130-seat restaurant, rooftop bar, and fitness center. However, the hotel company has yet to officially confirm (or acknowledge) plans for the new Ace project.

As previously reported, DOB-mandated renderings appeared on the plywood of 225 Bowery one month ago, courtesy of the HAKS architecture firm on the project. It still touts a completion date of sometime in 2018.
