There’s been a heavy presence of firefighters on Grand Street the last hour or so, battling a two-alarm basement blaze. Site of the action is 335 Grand Street, which has a Chinese supermarket in the ground level.

The ladders remain extended. At the moment there is no word regarding any victims, and cause of the fire is unknown. But eyewitness say that no one was reportedly injured.

Needless to say, the road is closed off to traffic.

More as it develops.

Update 11pm: the fire is reportedly under control.
