’Clinton Supermarket’ Evicted from Longtime Clinton Street Home
The Chinese-leaning Clinton Supermarket – on the block for more than a decade – is now kaput. City Marshals paid a visit to the commercial anchor earlier this month to seize the space on behalf of the landlord.
The storefront of 90 Clinton Street is now wrapped in butcher paper as it awaits the next business to arrive.
In retrospect, it was a slow death for the Clinton Supermarket. You’ll recall that last December, ownership downsized the business, ceding the front half of the store for new blood. The intention at the time was for the grocery to remain, but that the stalls at the entrance would be rented out.
In the end, the forward half of the store remained vacant, unable to attract anything of substance, and the business hobbled along for another nine months.
The City Marshal showed up on September 5.
