The man who roughed up a retired cop early Saturday morning and ran off with his gun is now in police custody, according to published reports.

Forsyth Street resident Rafael Calderon, 37, was arrested Monday and charged with robbery, grand larceny, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The 49-year-old retired cop had reportedly been visiting a friend at the Chinese Hispanic Grocery at the corner of Eldridge Street when Calderon fleeced a patron of $20. When the officer intervened, he met stiff resistance, during which his unloaded Glock 19 dropped from its holster. Calderon nabbed the weapon and ran off, leaving the cop with a broken nose and twisted ankle.
