‘Simply Hooked’ Might Get Fished out of Clinton Street After 7 Months
If the glut of listings swimming downstream is any indication, it appears one Clinton Street newcomer might soon be on its way out.
Seven-month-old Simply Hooked – the fish-and-chips joint with aspirations of ocean conservancy – is apparently on the market. The 900 square-foot restaurant is pitched in real estate listings as a catch for $8,900 per month.
Ownership did not immediately return our request for comment on the appearance of numerous listings circulated.
Simply Hooked opened at 47 Clinton Street last March with chef Matthias Leuliette in the kitchen. We learned at the time that the Lonely Whale Foundation is involved with the operation, maintaining a “close partnership” with the restaurant. This organization was founded by actor Adrian Grenier in 2015, and seeks to bring people “closer to the world’s oceans through education and awareness, inspiring empathy and action for ocean health and the wellbeing of marine wildlife.”
It’s also worth reiterating that ICON Realty Management owns 47 Clinton Street, having purchased the property in September 2014, just after unloading the parcels across the street (soon to become condos).
