Another Lower East Side affordable housing lottery is in full swing – this time, units at Essex Crossing’s Site 1 are up for grabs.
The 14-story building positioned at 242 Broome Street will have a total of 55 residential units; 11 of these units are available to households earning no more than 125% AMI (Area Median Income), and range from one- to three-bedrooms.
Residents of Community Board 3 are earmarked for 50 percent of the affordable units. Former site tenants of the Seward Park Urban Renewal Area (SPURA) – booted during slum clearance decades ago – will receive an additional edge within the Community Board 3 preference.
Site 1 is also the location that will house the International Center of Photography and Splitsville Luxury Lanes bowling alley.
More info on the lottery can be found here. There will also be two lottery overview sessions; Tuesday, December 12th 6:30-8pm and Tuesday, January 16 6:30-8pm, at the Seward Park High School Auditorium (350 Grand Street). Applications will not be dispensed at these meetings.
