‘Kabisera Kape’ is the Newest Coffee Shop for Allen Street
The former barbershop at 151 Allen Street is reborn as a cafe.
Open as of yesterday afternoon, Kabisera Kape is your standard neighborhood java joint. (Kabisera is Filipino for “Seat.”) Seemingly a first for this side of Allen Street, between Rivington and Stanton, it joins Konditori just up the block to keep the area in coffee.
In their own words, Kabisera “is your cozy coffee shop in your neighborhood, We served only single origin coffee roast coming from different country and pick the blend by ourselves.”
The newcomer makes a splash with the colorful endorsement of street artist Marco (aka Peter Marco), whose cartoon creations were once ubiquitous around the Lower East Side of the aughts (e.g. Bereket, Rosario’s Pizza). His truck, too.
