‘Electrical Issue’ Sidelines Ludlow Street’s Sweet Chick Indefinitely
Celebrity-backed Sweet Chick has been closed and on the ropes for the last three days.
Apparently, there were some unspecified “electrical issues,” and Con Edison came to shut down the waffles-and-chicken restaurant just before the busy rush on Friday evening. Computer printouts taped to the vestibule say the same – that it’s closed “temporarily” and that exact return date is simply TBD. Which certainly isn’t a good turn of events for the business.
The satellite outposts in Brooklyn remains open.
Sweet Chick debuted at 178 Ludlow – the former Max Fish space – in June 2014 and counts legendary rapper Nas as co-owner. It last hit headlines in April 2017 with the short-run Tupac pop-up Powamekka Cafe.
Due to electrical issues our LES location will unfortunately be closed for the time being 😩😩 We are working diligently to get this issue fixed. Please visit our Williamsburg or Prospect Heights location in the mean time 🙏🙏
