About that ‘Billboard on Bowery’ Near the Manhattan Bridge
She’s looking down to you, as if on a video chat. The image atop Canal Street, near the Manhattan Bridge approach, is at once mysterious, explained only by a subtle printout at ground level.
Dubbed “Billboard on Bowery,” the installation is just that. A glorified advertisement for the Robert Blumenthal gallery, which opened at 77 Bowery a few months ago. This current visual – “Just Be,” by Maggie Lee – is the second in the three-part inaugural series for the rooftop real estate.
The final change of the guard will happen in the next couple weeks, with a piece by Sayre Gomez. Billboard on Bowery runs through the end of April.
