Bonchon Chicken Owner to Open ‘Noree Thai Bazaar’ on Grand Street
The owner of several popular Korean-style restaurants downtown is now eyeing Chinatown Grand Street for a new project.
Andy Lau, co-owner of both Karaoke grill Gunbae (“cheers” in Korean) and Bonchon Chicken, is on the Community Board 3 docket this month for a full liquor license at 274 Grand Street. The proposal is a bit of a departure from his other ventures, and calls for a fifty-seat establishment in what was previously a Chinese produce market. Entitled “Noree Thai Bazaar,” the restaurant is just that. The menu includes a wide selection of noodles, fried rice, and skewer options, among others.
This storefront is an unlicensed location, so should garner a bit more scrutiny during the licensing process. Or not.
Lau and team will go before the SLA subcommittee of CB3 at the end of the month.
