‘Matter of Instinct’ Barbershop Begins Trimming on Orchard Street
For the ground floor of 122 Orchard Street, the brief foray into a storefront office has concluded. Instead, the space has returned to its previous function as an upscale salon (remember Misin Shin?).
Matter of Instinct debuted on the block, just north of Delancey Street, last week. The masculine man haunt boasts plenty of wood, from the floors to the cabinetry. Plus, old school style barber chairs. And if the interior decor reminds you of the former Freemans Sporting Goods Barbershop that closed last year, it should. Ruben Aronov started the venue, and several former haircutters are behind the scissors here, so to speak. Barber roster – Mark Miguez, Greg Dasaro, Joey Tasca, Josh Livingston, and Ruben Aronov.
Pricing skews higher with a standard buzz cut costing $25, a haircut $50, and cut+shave $100.
