Persistent Gas Issue Sidelines ‘Sweet Chick’ on Ludlow Street Until Further Notice
Gas woes continue to plague Sweet Chick, which again closed its Ludlow Street restaurant this week. The four-year-old establishment – co-owned by rapper Nas and John Seymour – had been operating for roughly a month with its gasless “Sweet Chicka” waffle-taco concept.
That PR stunt was short-lived, as 178 Ludlow is again quiet. Printouts taped to the vestibule indicate a more serious closure message – that the building is “experiencing a gas issue” and the chicken-and-waffles joint will be closed “til further notice.” (Meanwhile, residents upstairs tell us they still don’t have gas, either.)
There is no official word coming out of Sweet Chick’s social media accounts, yet Yelp lists the location as temporarily closed.
It’s also worth noting that the property was cited by Department of Buildings for alleged “gas use without authorization.”
