Pickle Guys will Start Grinding Super Hot Passover Horseradish this Weekend

Posted on: March 16th, 2018 at 5:03 am by

Passover falls quite early this year – at the end of March – so the Pickle Guys are getting a head start on serving up their special sauce. Homemade super-hot horseradish ground onsite.

Horseradish sales begin on Sunday (March 18) and will likely draw crowds. Expect the gas-masked grinder, as always, and a horde of customers queueing to partake. The larger location across the way at 357 Grand Street definitely alleviates the bottleneck of years past. Either way, ownership continually tells us it’s usually best to wait until mid-week before stocking your fridge (or seder plate) with the requisite bitterness.

Kosher for Passover Russell Borscht, pickles, pickled tomatoes, sweet peppers, and mangos, among other treats, are also available for purchase.

The Pickle Guys close for the holiday at 1pm on March 30, and return to regular hours on April 8.

‘FitHouse’ Folds Bowery Location, Decamps to NoHo

Four months later, that new workout studio, FitHouse, just left the Bowery for good. Unfit for the location, the gates are now drawn and space completely cleared out. Customers are instead directed via storefront signage to the new 5,500 square-foot NoHo location at 712 Broadway (“five blocks away”). This departure is somewhat sudden. The location at […]

‘Doka Square’ Departs Delancey After 3 Years

Doka Square, the ambitious pan-Asian restaurant at the southwest corner of Eldridge and Delancey Streets, is now kaput. Business concluded earlier this month after just barely three years on the block. The enormous, 5,000 square-foot space is now on the market, repped by Citi Habitats, according to onsite signage. It’s pitched as a whole for […]

Bradley Theodore Paints Anthony Bourdain Tribute Mural on Delancey Street

Prolific street artist Bradley Theodore last weekend painted a memorial to fallen celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. It’s on the facade of 104 Delancey Street, seemingly the first such tribute mural to the man on the Lower East Side. Theodore’s trademark is painting skeletal renditions of fashionable pop culture icons. So it’s touching to see a […]
