The Scooter Soup Servers of Jersey Street
The New York hustle is alive, albeit home-cooked.
As the temperature plummets, construction workers flock to a SoHo salesman who’s off the grid. The vendor is apparently a lifeline of sorts, serving hot meals from a scooter seat to the gaggle of contractors milling about the two active project sites on East Houston Street (i.e. 300 Lafayette and 606 Broadway).
He sets up one block south on Jersey Street (with a helper), and is a big draw on weekday mornings. The two main off-the-menu offerings – hot soup in ten gallon coolers and foil-wrapped sandwiches.
