‘Yaf Sparkle’ Closes its Original Orchard Street Store

Yaf Sparkle just vacated its five-year-old store on Orchard Street. This had been the flagship for the jewelry store until last Feburary when it expanded below the Delancey Divide.

You’ll recall that Yaf Sparkle opened at 249 Broome Street in what was formerly a Chinese laundromat (Sun Kwong). Retail is now consolidated; this is now the sole location for the brand.

The OG Orchard Street store was last in the news three months ago thanks to a bizarre criminal incident involving an arsonist and lighter fluid. You’ll recall that the perp had entered 158 Orchard Street in December pretending to be a customer. When a female employee showed him some trinkets, he allegedly drenched her in lighter fluid while holding a cigarette lighter. He grabbed some jewelry and fled while co-workers gave chase. Cops caught up with him and made the collar.
