Knickerbocker Village is Hosting its First Pop-Up Art Show with Residents
Knickerbocker Village is hosting its first ever pop-up art show, exclusively showcasing art from residents within the 1,600-unit affordable housing community in the Two Bridges neighborhood. Guest curated by Anna Kustera, the exhibition will highlight diverse, creative talent from the likes of Danna Call, Jessica Delfino, Hadassah Diaz, Russell King, Gloria Klein, Carter Kustera, Sean Mellyn, Barbara Porrazzo, Alex Smith, Deborah Sperling, Wendy White, and Fu Hai Shin.
A variety of media will be explored, including collages, jewelry designs, portraits, paper, watercolors on rice canvas, glitter canvas, and recyclables. Inspirations are as vast and unique as the artists themselves – the uprooting of culture and forced migration, local history, and tongue in cheek commentary, to name a few.
Opening reception is Friday, May 18 from 5-8pm at 75 Catherine Street. The show kicks off today and runs through June 9, 12-6pm.
