April 2016

For Brazilian-based Market Ipanema, Kenmare Street was the stateside flagship restaurant. Not anymore.

The international fast-casual eatery, which serves “healthy food with a Brazilian twist,” recently shut down after two years on the block. The 500 square-foot storefront is now vacant and on the market for $6,500.

The stretch of Kenmare Street has a history of turnover, both retail and residential. Including Market Ipanema, at least five commercial businesses in the building closed since September 2014, including Clos Wine Bar, New York Tailor, Little Fox, and Asiadog (since replaced by Xi’an Famous Foods). The latter two businesses shuttered right around the time that 58-68 Kenmare was sold to Marc and Jack Cohen (“58 Kenmare Associates LLC/Comjem LLC”) for $13.2 million.
