‘Tinkersphere’ Hobby Shop Moves from East Village to Allen Street

The Tinkersphere toy store is giving it a go on the Lower East Side.

The five-year-old hobby shop closed down its original location on East Fifth Street, per EV Grieve, and just opened at 152 Allen Street. This newer space seems much larger and less cluttered than the original, and is already packed with its wide array of toys, robotics, electronics, and the like.

Chosen location for the replacement is the expansive commercial footprint previously occupied by iMakr 3D printing workshop (it closed last November). As we’ve noted in the past, this stretch of retail on Allen Street is seemingly a dead zone. Businesses tend to struggle here, no doubt evidenced by the persistent turnover.
