LES Protests Trump’s Family Separation Policy with Banner Above FDR
Lower East Side activists unfurled a banner early yesterday morning protesting ongoing family separations happening at the border. The message is a play on First Lady Melania Trump’s controversial jacket faux pas last week, reading “Yes we care … Do U?,” and hung from the FDR pedestrian bridge at Delancey Street.
This is a popular spot for protestors to make a high-profile statement, given the number of motorists passing beneath the span every hour.
Meanwhile, the multipurpose Eche Verde store at 162 Allen Street has a statement of its own in protest of ICE (immigration and customs enforcement).
