Steel Falls 30 Feet from One Manhattan Square, Injuring a Worker Below
Extell’s One Manhattan Square saw a worksite injury last week involving a falling piece of steel from the superstructure.
As first reported yesterday, the piece reportedly plunged thirty feet from the gargantuan project site. Apparently, the construction material struck the worker’s shoulder while operating a lift performing steel work. No ambulance was dispatched to 250 South Street as it was reportedly a minor injury, a Department of Buildings spokesman told Patch.
The city subsequently issued a violation and a partial stop-work order (below), which will be fully rescinded once the contractor details a plan for safely resuming steel work on this lift.
