Woman Hit by Car on Madison Street Dies After 8 Days on Life Support
A Lower East Side woman died earlier this week, eight days after being hit by a car near the intersection of Madison and Rutgers Streets.
Relatives of 42-year-old Suzanne Egan reportedly removed her from life support that had kept her alive since the July 15 crash. Egan had been crossing mid-block on Madison Street at 3:45am when she was hit by a Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old man.
She was rushed to the hospital and put on a respirator; the driver remained at the scene and hasn’t been charged.
Friends set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a “proper burial.” Over $4,500 has been raised toward the $8,000 goal as of this morning.
