‘10Below’ Ice Cream on Allen Street Might Melt Away

With the dog days of summer upon us (nay, the final days), one neighborhood ice cream store is most likely melting.

If this latest Craigslist advert is any indication, 10Below Ice Cream may soon close down. The 1,200 square-foot store – formerly the Longboard Loft skate shop – is currently on the market for $9,000 per month.

10Below opened on Allen Street two years ago with much fanfare. This was the first expansion for the Chinatown-based sweets shop, which specializes in specialized, “rolled” ice cream.

The first outward indication of trouble was back in January when 10Below subleased half its space to the “Sneaky Tavern” sneaker shop.

10Below maintains other locations on St. Mark’s Place, Flushing, and Los Angeles.
