7th Precinct ‘National Night Out’ is Back on East Broadway Tonight
Tonight, the 7th Precinct is hosting National Night Out here on the Lower East Side.
The annual block party is held across the country in an effort to increase awareness for police programs within communities, such as highlighting neighborhood watches and drug prevention. In the Five Boroughs alone, the NYPD has more than 70 happening. As in the past, the Lower East Side event also includes entertainment, rides, food, and raffles.
National Night Out has been around since 1984, and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. Last year, more than thirty-eight million residents in twenty-thousand communities across the country attended an event.
The event is free, and is happening from 4pm to 9pm, on East Broadway, between Clinton and Rutgers Street.
