The Spam Burger is Coming to Orchard Street with ‘Tsismis’

The first Filipino restuarant for Orchard Street is still happening. In fact, it’s nearing debut.

Initially conceived as “Burgers and Chismis,” the concept took space at 143 Orchard Street and will offer a menu of eats like Spam burgers, a crispy pork knuckle sandwich with pickled enoki mushroom, chicken and pork belly adobo, and pickled mackerel. It’s now simply called Tsismis, which is another way Filipinos refer to “gossip.”

Chef Shane Walsh is reportedly tied to the endeavor, along with Stephen Young, and brings along experience from Prune, Bubby’s Tribeca, and Jones Wood Foundry.

The proprietors first appeared on the Community Board 3 docket over a year-and-half ago for beer-wine approval. They’re now interviewing candidates to run the place.

We’re told that the official opening date of Tsismis is about four weeks away.
