Yesterday afternoon, a three-alarm fire ripped through a Mott Street tenement in Chinatown, seriously injuring two residents.
The fire sparked on the second floor of 113 Mott Street at 12:30pm, and quickly spread. Flames were seen shooting out the windows.
It took a couple hours, but firefighters finally had the blaze under control by around 2pm.
A 97-year-old woman and her home aide were critically injured, the former having reportedly suffered cardiac arrest. Both were rescued and brought down the ladder. The remaining families are temporarily displaced.
