‘Alphonso’s Pizza’ Shack Reopened Yesterday after Flood
Alphonso’s Pizza Shack on the eastern fringe of Grand Street just reopened after a forced five-day hiatus.
The neighborhood slice joint shuttered last week after a flood wrecked the place, and spent the intervening time on the sidelines. Ownership tells us that a broken water heater was to blame.
The Pizza Shack, which has been serving the Lower East Side since the late-1980s, returned to the fold yesterday. It’s one of the better pizza options in an area of town notorious for hit-or-miss pies.
