‘Shanghai Dumpling’ Returns to Mott Street with New Name
Shanghai Cafe Deluxe has resumed operations in Chinatown after months on the sidelines. Back in business just in time for the holidays. Yet with a slight name change.
It’s now known as Shanghai Dumpling.
The dumpling house at 100 Mott Street closed back in April for unspecified “renovations.” Word on the street is that the hiatus may have been gas related.
Upon reopening earlier this week, the restaurant appeared to return to its old self. Their popular soup dumplings are steamed in the windows, and the dining room looks the same.
The original Shanghai Cafe was founded by Suzie Chang back in 2003.
