Eli Zabar and Son to Launch ‘Broome Street Bakery’ on Monday

There is a new bakery in town that carries the Zabar name. On the Lower East Side.

As we first reported back in April, Eli Zabar and his son, Oliver, are launching a new bakery beside their newish restaurant, Devon. Signage is now in the windows of 254 Broome Street, pimping the forthcoming arrival of Broome Street Bakery (by Eli Zabar & Sons).

According to the Instagram page, they open shop on Monday (June 10).

The newcomer will serve fresh bread and pastries baked daily in-house; offer breakfast options and coffee; plus soups, salads, and a rotating selection of sandwiches made on fresh baguettes.

In addition, Devon will source its bread and other baked goods from here.

The father-son duo opened Devon in November 2018, naming it after Oliver’s mother, Devon Fredericks, apparently a major creative influence in the Eli’s empire.
