Demolition Commences Ahead of 18-Story Moxy Hotel on the Bowery

Those blue bars and black netting are going up, signaling more demolition on the Bowery. This time, to make way for a glitzy new hotel.

The entire corner is set to fall. In one fell swoop.

Department of Buildings approved the new lodge, filed under the 145 Bowery address, back in April. Several months after demolition was approved. The construction will rise eighteen stories, deliver 300 guest rooms and a gym, all across 85,831 square-feet of space.

Two different owners sold out to Lightstone Group last August for a combined $56.6 million payday – 151 Bowery (Emmut Properties) and 145-149 Bowery (Gordon Lau).

The Bowery is officially overrun with hotels. This Moxy is spitting distance from Sohotel, Selina, CitizenM, Ace’s Sister City, and the Wyndham Garden.
