Rumor: Louis Vuitton Opening Store on Rivington Street

Brace yourself, plebeians of the Lower East Side.

There’s a pretty juicy (and unconfirmed) rumor floating around the neighborhood that claims Louis Vuitton is on the way. Specifically, a new store at the corner of Ludlow and Rivington Streets in what was previously Tani (and Steve Madden for the six years prior). Workers renovating the store revealed as much but stopped short of confirming exact details.

Or, it might just be a pop-up.

If true, Louis Vuitton would certainly be next level for an entertainment zone over-saturated with liquor licenses, vomit, trash, and traffic. Or perhaps the halo of Ludlow House and big-box stores along the East Houston perimeter were enough to “soften” Hell Square for this type of retail?

Either way, the rumor seems so preposterous that it just might actually be true.
