Grand Street Bank Robber Fled to Brooklyn in Cab Before Arrest [Updated]
A man stole a bag of cash yesterday morning from the TD Bank in the Zarin building on Grand Street before fleeing to Brooklyn, police said.
The thief – purportedly a 50-year-old Hispanic man, according to the Citizen app – grabbed approximately $600 in currency before hailing a cab to Brooklyn. He reportedly slipped the teller a demand note.
Since modern money bags include GPS devices between the cash packs, cops handily followed suit. The bank robber made it to 2nd Avenue and 39th Street in Brooklyn, where a ping alerted authorities to his location. He was cornered and arrested.
