COLORS Restaurant Announces Return to Stanton Street 2 Years After it Closed Down
Two years after COLORS restaurant shuttered, news comes down the pike of its revival.
COLORS moved from NoHo to 176 Stanton Street in the winter of 2017, but didn’t quite make a dent. It closed within months of opening. Now, a report that it’ll return sometime next month.
The announcement arrived yesterday, on the eighteenth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, with reason. The cooperative restaurant was originally founded by employee survivors of the Windows on the World restaurant, which was located on the 107th floor of the North Tower, and lost 72 employees.
COLORS returns to a spot that hasn’t been hospitable to nightlife of late. In the last seven years, three different bar-restaurants attempted, then failed in short order – Lowlife, shuttered in June 2016 after a six month run; it was preceded by the Moldy Fig (d. February 2012) and Stanton Kitchen (d. June 2015).
