Off-Duty Cop Arrested for DWI Following Collision at Manhattan Bridge Entrance
Police last week arrested one of its own after an off-duty officer was busted for drunk driving on the Manhattan Bridge.
NYPD Officer Eugene Schatz, 46, was driving eastbound Wednesday night on Canal Street toward the bridge entrance when he got into a minor fender-bender with another vehicle. Yet kept on driving until reaching Brooklyn.
Unbeknownst to the cop, the other driver called the police, who pulled him over in Brooklyn Heights.
According to published reports, the 21-year NYPD veteran was charged with driving while intoxicated – 1st offense, driving while ability impaired, and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test.
