Fourth Fatality in Chinatown Homeless Beatings is Identified
The city medical examiner last week released from the morgue the final body rendered lifeless in the massacre of homeless men on the Bowery.
He was identified as Florencio Moran Camano, whose family in his native Mexico signed off on the release, according to published reports.
Camano, 39, was the youngest victim of Randy Santos, the man accused of bludgeoning four homeless men to death back in October on the Bowery. Like the others, he was murdered while asleep on the street. The fifth victim sustained major injuries but survived the attack.
Santos pleaded not guilty to four counts of murder, plus one charge of attempted murder. He’s taking the insanity defense, and maintains no recollection of attacking anyone that night.
