Little Gio’s Pizza Expands with Orchard Street Outpost
An East Village pizzeria is making its way south into Hell Square.
Little Gio’s, which currently holds down a parlor on 1st Avenue, just announced its expansion a few blocks south to 194 Orchard Street. The five-year-old business took over, and installed the requisite signage atop the shuttered gate.
The space had been vacant in the years since Georgia’s Eastside BBQ shuttered, largely due to construction on the luxury condo next door.
Little Gio’s was founded as Little Joe’s in November 2014 with a veteran of Joe’s Pizza. Sergio Ramirez previously worked for 13 years at the venerable West Village pizzeria. They quickly changed the name once word got out, since there was no official connection (or perhaps a cease-and-desist).
The pizza joint enters an over-crowded market. Indeed, within fifty feet are Rosario’s, Pizza Beach, and Una Pizza Napoletana. Not to mention the dollar slice spot around the corner on East Houston.
