Christopher Marte Launches City Council Campaign for 2021
Christopher Marte is jumping back into the City Council election ring.
With three-time Councilmember Margaret Chin terming out next year, the local politician is looking to capitalize early on the District 1 seat. Essentially building on the momentum he created during the 2017 election that gave Chin a run for her money. (The incumbent squeaked by with 200 votes.)
Speaking of money, Marte has already raised $45,000 in campaign contributions from over 400 individual donors – half of what is needed to be considered a “fully funded campaign” through the City’s matching program.
Marte is once again running on a community-oriented platform for District 1, calling for “greater public control over land-use decisions” (e.g. waterfront development) and “robust environmental resiliency planning.”
Chin’s third four-year term concludes in 2021.
