First Look at Uncle Boons Offshoot ‘Thai Diner’ on Kenmare

Critics’ downtown favorite Uncle Boons is on the precipice of expansion. Southbound and down.

Its Thai Diner offshoot is almost ready to go at 186 Mott Street. Word on the street is any day now. Initial target opening had been October 2019. Now, it’s anyone’s guess.

Meanwhile, storefront itself – previously home to short-lived The Sosta – has been teasing for weeks. There is wrought kitschy flare to grab attention.

For Thai Diner, Chef-owners Ann Redding and Matt Danzer will oversee a Thai-American menu with dishes like Thai disco fries.

You would never know that, just a few years ago, this was Mott Hardware. That local business closed shop in August 2016 after decades serving the community.
