This Sixty-Foot Horse Mural Painted on Broome Street Facade
Where a giant veiny penis mural once held court, a Broome Street building facade now boasts some new art.
Swedish street artist Shai Dahan painted a sixty-foot horse on the side of 303 Broome Street. It’s a reimagining of the traditional Dala Horse (aka Dalecarlian Horse), which is often used as a national symbol of Sweden.
Dahan completed the piece in about four days. The Swedish Dala Horse will reportedly remain on display for the next two years.
The landlord, Samy Mahfar, would probably love for everyone to forget the mural of an enormous penis painted by another Swedish artist over Christmas 2017. You’ll recall Carolina Falkholt had imparted the throbbing phallus as part of The New Allen, but the resultant media outcry and response from neighbors led to its erasure.
