First Glimpse of the ‘Adult Tree House’ at Extell’s One Manhattan Square

The outdoor amenities long-promised for Extell’s so-called vertical village of One Manhattan Square are finally in focus.

The pedestal on which the 815-foot skyscraper sits also boasts what marketing materials refer to as an “urban oasis.” Designed by landscape architects West 8, the 45,000 square-foot backyard is apparently “inspired by the squares and parks of Europe. Sparkly renderings that circulated several years ago boasted “intimate garden rooms, a tea pavilion, numerous social courtyards and lounges, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, fire pits, an adult tree house, birch garden, ping pong tables, putting green, and observatory.” All within earshot of the FDR Drive.

Meanwhile, the above image shows the reality thus far. The area is still under construction. But at least the adult tree house is erected…
