‘Skin Contact’ Wine Bar Opens on Orchard Street Next Week

Skin Contact will open this month, after all. Yet not without plenty of hurdles.

Ownership emailed us after we published a piece chronicling their dismay over the delay in obtaining a liquor license at 76 Orchard Street. You’ll recall that this spot was last occupied five years ago by Ochado Ramen, and a short run at that.

The storefront warehousing ended last year when the Skin Contact team took over.

It took nearly a year, but the wine bar just received the paperwork from State Liquor Authority.

“We paid rent for 8 months waiting for our license from the SLA, which is supposed to take 4-8 WEEKS, not 8 months,” one of the partners told us. “We almost had to shut down without even having a chance to open.”

Opening is one week from today, February 19.
