Bowery Mission Serving Daily Meals to those in Need, Rain or Shine

While thousands across the city are isolating at home, there are others who don’t have many – if any – options for food or shelter during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bowery Mission is helping to curtail that by handing out meals to people at their Bowery site.

Earlier this week, staff and volunteers distributed “to-go” lunch to 400 people in the rain, and also provided those in need with an outdoor handwashing station. Meals will continue to be served at 8am and 1pm daily at 227 Bowery (at Prince Street).

The number of people visiting the Bowery Mission has increased during this period of economic turmoil, and the Mission has pledged to continue to provide services to those in need. At the same time, they’re looking for financial donations, as well as donated food and supplies to continue to support the community.

This latest news comes on the heels of the mission closing down its chapel to area homeless. The organization had previously welcomed on the coldest winter nights.
