The Bowery property repositioned as a “tech incubator” several years ago gained another such tenant.

Entertainment and pop-culture news website Uproxx this month signed a commercial lease at 161 Bowery, where it had been sub-leasing space. The clickbait guru, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, will occupy the entire top floor of the seven-story building (i.e. 3,300 square-feet). Asking rent at the property was reportedly $81 per square foot.

Marx Realty purchased 161 Bowery, and the nearby 135 Bowery, from Caspi Development in September 2018 for $48.5 million. The former owner had converted both properties to luxury offices.

Other tenants at 161 Bowery include advertising agency Space 150, and online education platform Brainly. Previous tenants include social media app maker Kik Interactive and the coworking space Meet on Bowery.
