An Choi Officially Closes After 11 Years on Orchard Street
An Choi, the eleven-year-old local darling, closed its doors forever this past Sunday. The permanent closure also extends to its in-house coffee shop, Cafe Phin.
Bowery Boogie was first to report the impending shutter last month, after receiving a tip from a well-placed source blaming pandemic times. Ownership, however, later walked back the news, saying closure was a possibility and not a certainly.
It’s a certainty.
An Choi ended service on Orchard Street with a closing event Sunday evening. Thereafter, former employees and patrons began sharing photos and memories of the establishment.
The pho shop debuted on the Lower East Side back in 2009, opened by brothers Tuan and Huy Bui. Their menu reflected modern versions on Vietnamese standbys.
