In Little Italy, the 129-Year-Old Caffe Roma Reopens
Little Italy institution, Caffe Roma (127 Mulberry Street) is the latest restaurant that’s taking it to the streets.
Shuttered since the pandemic hit in March, the 129-year-old establishment reopened on August 8, joining the lively outdoor dining scene that stretches down Mulberry from Broome to Canal Streets. The understated seating with oversized umbrellas can’t hold a candle to the charming tiled floor, tin ceilings and rich green interior, but additional wicker bench seating offers a cozy touch.
Customers can stop by for a flavored cappuccino ($6.25), Italian soda ($2.75) or egg cream ($4.00) and stay for the profiteroles ($8.50) and an array of other pastries. Also on offer is gelato to go for $6.00.
