The turkeys are coming!

This week, Vision Urbana announced the largest ever turkey drive on the Lower East Side. It’s a feat which provides turkeys to over 1,500 families in NYCHA this Thanksgiving. Door-to-door turkey drop-offs have already begun, via Vision Urbana’s food pantry home delivery network. Just in time for folks to have their birds for Thursday.

The initiative is a means of addressing the heightened food insecurity during the pandemic, and has been made possible thanks to generous support from Grace and Kim Lee, along with donations from the Hispanic Federation, and Foodbank of NYC.

“Every family deserves to celebrate Thanksgiving with a turkey,” said Grace Lee in a press release. “The vision to provide turkeys to families in NYCHA across the entire Lower East Side this Thanksgiving was a vision we knew we needed to support. So many families are struggling due to the pandemic. We all must do our part to help ensure our community has what they need to get through these unprecedented times.”
