Zazzy’s Pizza Soft Launches in the Old Home of Rosario’s

With Rosario’s Pizza now a proverbial footnote, its successor is now in play.

Zazzy’s Pizza is now serving on Orchard Street, albeit in soft launch mode for the last couple weeks.

For starters, the health-conscious pizzeria (there are plant-based vegan options) is open for dinner service, 5pm-10pm daily. The takeout window at 173 Orchard is open until midnight on Friday and Saturdays. Ownership anticipates a “grand opening” sometime in early December, along with an annex in the West Village.

As previously reported, the decades-old Rosario’s shuttered after the mandatory pandemic lockdown last spring. Never to reopen. Founded on East Houston in 1963 – adjacent to Katz’s – pizzeria was a family affair. It relocated to the northwest corner of Orchard and Stanton Streets since 1998.

‘Crab Du Jour’ Chain Claws onto the Lower East Side

Crab Du Jour is headed to the southern perimeter of Essex Crossing. The fast food joint, which slings Cajun-style seafood, planted a flag at 384 Grand Street last week. Literally. Signage announces the newcomer. It takes the spot left vacant by La Flaca last summer after its ten-year tenure on the block. Crab Du Jour […]

All thanks to dueling developments – ongoing Essex Crossing, plus a newcomer across the way. That’s right, the gargantuan development replacing the burned-down Beth Hamedrash Hagadol – dubbed GoBroome – is […]

In Chinatown, it’s Elders Lost in Vaccination

As the nation’s coronavirus death toll exceeds 400,000, news of mass vaccination sites opening across New York city is certainly welcome. However, securing an appointment is proving a daunting task. The mayor previously stressed equity in treatment for vaccination, which is rolled out in phases. Yet, with the mandate that all appointments require online registration, […]
