Sticky Rice Outdoor Dining Foiled by Orchard Street Bike Rack
Sticky Rice is stuck between a rack and an empty place. Bike rack, that is.
Thanks to the sprawling, Department of Transportation issued bike corral at its doorstep, the fourteen-year-old Thai restaurant is unable to erect any dedicated structure to accommodate larger-scale outdoor seating. Like the one next door at Dudley’s. (There are currently two tables by the entrance.) Obviously, with the recent re-ban on indoor dining, it’s making things worse for the bottom line.
Concerned customers reached out on their behalf to bring their plight to the fore. And also to help convince the city to relocate the parking – temporarily or otherwise. Potentially to a space across the street. Sticky Rice has apparently asked Department of Transportation several times to no avail.
