Henry Street Campers Paint Community Mural on Ludlow Street
It’s nice to see a grassroots, community-led mural go up for a change.
Indeed, the With the coordination of the 7th Precinct, the Henry Street Settlement this month teamed with the Thrive Collective youth art program – under leadership of Toofly – to impart some color on the Ludlow Street wall popularized by a Nick Walker “Vandal” nearly a decade ago. (Maybe it won’t get tagged up as much.)
Participant painters were summer campers from the Settlement’s Jacob Riis Cornerstone, as well as Boys & Girls Republic day camps.
The mural – a floral take on “Lower East Side” – took one weekend to complete and is now on display outside the Ludlow facade of The DL.
