Audible sobbing, burning wax, and the soundtrack of passing vehicles and subway trains on the Williamsburg Bridge. Such is the makeshift memorial site for the fallen sixteen-year-old, Raphael Sadonte Ward.

Shortly before noon Wednesday morning, flames exploded from the sixteenth floor of 89 Columbia Street, one of the buildings comprising the Masaryk Towers. Officials have determined the cause.

Jumper Reported at Rivington and Columbia

Scanner handles across the Tweetscape are reporting on a suicide that transpired not too long ago near the corner of Rivington and Columbia Streets. The jumper did not survive the fall, and was pronounced DOA.  A crime scene is reportedly established around the perimeter. More info as it develops…

Nike Commissions New Masaryk Towers Mural

Chico’s artistic fingerprint at Masaryk Towers was seriously diminished last weekend. What little remained of his signpost mural on Columbia Street – “Living in Harmony” – was indelibly replaced with something less of the neighborhood.

Shootout and Chase Near Baruch Houses on the Lower East Side

For forty minutes earlier this morning, a police helicopter buzzed around the Lower East Side, reportedly projecting a spotlight around the vicinity of Baruch Houses. It was a shootout and chase.

Nike Builds New Basketball Court Inside Masaryk Towers
