Stanton Pizza, the solid cubbyhole pizzeria at the southeast corner of Essex Street, is out of business. Another Covid casualty. CBGB has been dead and gone for almost four years, but one Lower East Side tattoo parlor is channeling its spirit. Within the last week or so, New York Hardcore Tattoos at 127 Stanton Street installed a new awning that very much resembles the signage of the iconic rock dive.

Preparations and renovations are complete, as Stanton Pizza is now serving at 127 Stanton Street. The pizza parlor opened on Friday afternoon with bunches of “good luck” balloons, and has since littered the neighborhood with its menus.

In November 2008, the Dulcinée vintage boutique shop at 127 Stanton Street closed its doors for the greener pastures of internet sales. The storefront remained dormant with requisite “for rent” signs inviting new business. And one finally took the bait.
